Death Note S01

Light Yagami is a very intelligent young man who is disgusted and outraged by the murders and corruption of the world. His life changes when he finds a strange notebook called Death Note that has fallen from the sky at his school. The instructions of the Death Note claim that if the name of a person is written in it, that person will die. At first, Light is skeptical and uncertain about the authenticity of the notebook. However, after testing it and killing two serial killers, Light is forced to accept that the Death Note is real. After meeting the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light becomes determined to achieve his goal of creating a "new world" and believes himself to be responsible for judging the killers. Soon, with the reports of suspicious deaths, the international police and a mysterious detective named L become involved in this case. L quickly realizes that the person responsible for these consecutive murders, known to the people as Kira (a nickname derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word "killer"), is living in Japan. Light realizes that L is the biggest obstacle to his achieving his new world, and a game of cat and mouse begins between the two.
